It’s Only Time Now

I posted a while back about my Uncle dying of cancer.  Well, it turns out that it’s not stomach cancer after all, but pancreatic.  Apparently and unknown to him, he’s had this for a few years, but it just recently caused issues for him to have it looked into.

He was feeling well enough to make the sad trip to see his family for what probably will be the last time.

It was bittersweet.

When talking to my cousin, he told me the last few weeks were very emotional for them.  They spent it crying, sorting out the sales of all their property and belongings, finding my Aunt a place to live and crying some more.  He also told me that he is finally able to talk about it now as they went through most of the emotional stuff already, but as he said it his bottom lip quivered and all I could do was hug him.

I’m worried about my Baba with all this.  Her memory has been fading quite a bit lately and she’s having a hard time remembering people.  When she was told the news a few weeks back, she was sad but then the very next day she questioned the news and had to be reminded.  Maybe it’s a good thing she doesn’t remember everything like she used to?  However, how many times is she going to have to relive the knowledge and pain of her loss when she brings him up wondering where he is and people will have to tell her over and over again?  I’m hoping that won’t be the case.

My Aunt is in some pretty rough shape too.  Not only is she having to deal with the fact that her Husband of 41 years is dying, but when they were here visiting, her mother suffered a stroke back in B.C.  Her mother is 87, lives alone and is one stubborn lady.  She was found a day and a half later, laying on the floor.  I am unsure as to whether or not she was able to contact someone when this happened (I don’t know the severity of her stroke) but she is known to refuse help.  So she is now in the hospital from her stroke and also has a touch of pneumonia.  Chances are when/if she is released from the hospital, she will be forced to live in a seniors building which has medical care and I can tell you this…She will HATE it.

My Aunt told me that they will be spending as much time as they can relaxing (or trying to) since the next little while will be about getting her moved into her new place.  She already looks so lost.  Thankfully, they are able to deal with what they need to now so that it isn’t something they have to worry about later on.  I have to agree with my cousin.  It certainly takes one strong person to deal with all of these arrangements, basically say good bye to his mother and family and make sure no one is left with the burden of his death.

What tugged on my heart strings the most was looking at my Uncle.  It was just so wrong to see him so tired.  I don’t think I have ever seen him tired.  He was always busy, full of life and telling funny stories.  Now he is sad, scared and fragile.  When he was saying his goodbye’s to his siblings, I just stood there watching tears fall and the sadness pour out of everyone.

I was glad I got to see him and tell him that I love him.

He’s a fighter.  I just hope he will come out victorious!

Too Close To Home…Literally!

Way to start your Monday morning…

It’s about 1:00AM.  My hubby and I are sitting in the living room, he’s playing video games and I am being all crafty when all of the sudden we hear a loud CRASH!  We both drop everything and run to the front window that looks out to the street but couldn’t really see anything until we went outside.  That’s when we saw a bunch of broken pieces of a car, truck and another car.

Some assclown decided it would be fun to drink his face off and do a bunch of donuts down the street.  This said driver, after doing a couple of donuts then booked it down the street as fast as he could and along the way, he hit two cars parked on the road minding their own business.  He damaged the back driver side of the neighbors car that lives two houses down and wrote that car off (bent the rear wheel 45 degrees inward), but the most damage was done to our next door neighbors truck.  His rear drivers side was totaled.  The impact was so hard that it even cracked the front windshield!  The drunk’s car was totaled too as the front end was smashed in.

Had those vehicles not been parked where they were, with the direction this buttpie was going, he would have driven up into our front yard and plowed into our cars parked in the driveway, maybe even our garage.

Apparently, the drunk’s friends and possibly his dad were all outside watching him be a clown and saw the whole thing happen as the lot of them showed up seconds after impact.  Part of me felt bad for the drunk’s dad as he just looked like he didn’t know what to do with himself.  He was obviously concerned for his son, looked pissed off at what he did and extremely embarrassed for this whole thing happened in his neighborhood right in front of his neighbors.  The other part of me isn’t sure how to feel towards the dad as I’m unsure if he was also one of those watching him burn donuts drunk.

Thankfully, the only one injured was the driver himself.  I am unsure of his injuries, but there was no blood at the scene to say that it was major.  His trusty airbag and alcohol consumption saved his sorry ass and after coming to he tried to get up a few times, but people kept telling him to stay put and not move.  He even tried to get up after the EMS had him strapped down on the gurney.

Needless to say, our next door neighbor is LIVID over this whole thing as he very well should be.

I was thinking of taking my camera out to snap a few pictures of the damage, but then thought against it as that wouldn’t have been very tactful of me.  I also didn’t see this as something “news worthy” to run and grab my camera for.

I’m just glad no one else was in the car with him and no one else was hurt.

On (Golden) Pond

I was at my bro & sis in-law’s for Mother’s Day and as everyone else was frolicking in the house and yard, I decided to hang out at the pond they have on the property.  When I am out in nature, I tend to become a loner.  I am perfectly happy with being a loner as I love the outdoors and would rather spend my time absorbing what nature has to offer than listen to someone yap about itchy butts.

Here are a few shots of my adventure around the pond (which by the way, I think will be spectacular come fall).

I’m Sure I’m Somebody’s Hero

Ok…This cold of mine has really done a number on me.  So much so, that it has me seeing things.  Tonight, while I was changing into comfy clothes, I saw a bug on the carpet.  I’m not sure what kind of bug it is.  I want to call it a silverfish, but I think it’s something else.  They are small bugs that somewhat resemble a shrimp, are brownish-orange in color and enjoy shedding their outter shell and leaving it behind in clothing, etc.

I know.  Gross, eh?

Well, I saw one on the floor.  Thankfully it wasn’t moving, so I had the chance to grab a kleenex without it escaping on me.  I captured it then went to go show my Hubby and tell him my hatred for these bugs.  He then opened the kleenex and told me I was a great hero, then started laughing.  Puzzled, I asked why he was laughing.  He then replied by saying how fantastic it was of me to capture a FLUFF!

Not kidding.  I bravely caught a fluff that was in the shape and color as one of those awful bugs.  How great of me!!!

When he pointed that out, I was in disbelief.  My brain actually had me believing that I caught one of those bugs.  Whatever.  I even opened the kleenex to confirm that it was in fact one of them before taking it to show him.  He asked me if it was moving and when I went to grab it I grabbed the fluff instead.  Well, he got a good chuckle to learn that it wasn’t moving at all.  He asked me if I screamed before capturing the dangerous fluff, I of course said No (I really didn’t…Honest!).  He said it would have been twice as funny if I did.  I said thanks.

Somewhere between the bedroom and the kitchen, the bug pulled a David Copperfield and morphed into a fluff to make me look like the BIGGEST IDIOT EVER!  I know…I’m so pretty!

Color me stupid!

It will be a while before I live this one down.

The Fearless And Bravest Fluff Hunter Ever To Live.  If you ever need fluff removed from your home, I’m your dumbass!

Good thing I can laugh at myself, right?  I tend to do that often.
